POSITION SUMMARY:

The primary function/purpose of this job.

The Environmental, Health, Safety (EHS) and Facilities Manager is responsible for facilitating and ensuring compliance with company practices, regulatory agencies, permits and other applicable laws and standards. The EHS&F Manager engages leaders and employees in a way that improves locations performance by promoting a safety-first culture, reducing the risk of safety incidents through training and sound work practices, and providing tools and systems that deliver improved performance. 

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

Essential Functions

  1. Ensure that the organization complies with all relevant environmental, health, and safety laws and regulations at the local, state, and federal levels.
  2. Develop, implement, and maintain EHS policies and procedures that align with regulatory requirements and industry best practices.
  3. Identify potential hazards and assess risks in the workplace and develop strategies to mitigate these risks.
  4. Provide EHS training and education to employees, contractors, and visitors to ensure awareness and understanding of safety procedures and protocols.
  5. Investigate accidents, incidents, and near misses, and develop corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
  6. Develop and maintain emergency response plans, including evacuation procedures, first aid, and disaster response.
  7. Manage environmental programs, including waste disposal, pollution control, and sustainability initiatives.
  8. Conduct regular safety inspections and audits to identify and address potential safety and environmental issues.
  9. Maintain accurate records of safety incidents, inspections, and compliance activities. Prepare and submit regulatory reports as required.
  10. Manage and support the completion of corrective and preventive actions.
  11. Communicate EHS information and updates to employees, management, regulatory agencies, and other stakeholders.
  12. Manage the EHS&F budgets, including capital, operating and construction budgets.
  13. Continuously monitor and evaluate EHS programs and processes to identify opportunities for improvement and efficiency.
  14. Manages building operations and maintenance, furniture and equipment inventories, utility operations, energy management, and grounds maintenance.
  15. Oversees major infrastructure repair and renovations projects and acts as the liaison for all remodeling, renovation, and construction projects.
  16. Collaborates with site leaders to ensure effective and efficient processes for facility security.

Qualifications

Minimum requirements to competently perform the key responsibilities of this job in terms of educational background, work experience, licenses/certifications or other knowledge, skills, and abilities.

Basic Requirements

  • Four (4)-year degree from an accredited college or university in one of the following disciplines: Occupational Safety and Health, Environmental Safety and Health, Environmental Management, or Environmental Science.
  • 5 - 7 years related experience in a corporate and distribution environment
  • Demonstrated understanding of local, federal, and state regulations
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and deploy safety programs in a corporate and distribution environment.
  • Ability to travel both domestically and globally, as necessary.
  • Strong drive to complete aggressive timelines.
  • Ability to be self-directed and take full ownership for work responsibilities with limited oversight.

 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Training as a first-responder or EMT/paramedic is not required but preferred.
  • A safety-related professional certification such as Certified Safety Professional (CSP) or a Associate Safety Professional (ASP) studying for CSP, Safety Management Specialist (SMS), or Certified Safety and Health Manager (CSHM) through ISHM.
